Army National Guard Pfc. Jacob Labinaw has graduated from Basic Combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Labinaw is the son of Mavis Clous of Grawn and a 1997 graduate of Traverse City Senior High School.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Matthew Anderson has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Donald and Jacklyn Anderson of Rapid City. Anderson graduated in 2006 from Elk Rapids High School and received an associate degree in 2008 from Northwestern Michigan College.

Clayton Porter has been promoted to the rank of senior airman in the U.S. Air Force. Porter, an aircraft fuel systems journeyman with two years of military service, is assigned to the 436th Security Forces Squadron, Dover Air Force Base, Del. He is the son of Linda Porter, of Buckley, and Randall Porter, of Traverse City. The airman is a 1986 graduate of the Buckley Community School.
