Clean own house

I am deeply concerned about the Traverse City Area Public Schools Board of Education’s response to the defeat of the millage. While watching the rebroadcast of the board meeting of Nov. 11, I was embarrassed by the board’s response and the need to blame everyone from Green Lake Township to the people they hired to survey the public’s possible vote.

The people they should have been blaming were themselves and the TCAPS administration. Did they wonder if the bond would have passed if they had had the support of their own employees?

While programs and costs have been increasing and the number of downtown administration increases (though they will tell you it’s not - salaries and costs are spread around to other parts of the budget), they continue to treat their employees with disdain.

Employee morale is the lowest it’s ever been due to increased work with fewer employees and resources as well as an evaluation process written by their attorneys.

TCAPS needs to clean its own house before disparaging the public.

Concern over ACA

When the Affordable Care Act was signed into law it was said to have contained about 2,000 pages. Nobody had read or studied that mass of rules and regulations. Nobody has yet informed the American people what will be expected of them. Discussion of the merits of the law and how to implement it is based on concepts of what the law could do, not based on what is actually written in the law. Is anybody concerned about that day when nameless, faceless bureaucrats make decisions for us regarding our health, or force on us whatever else is written in that law?
