---- — The biggest polluters
Michigan Department of Environmental Quality authorities have always assured us that fracking will use an average of five million gallons of water per well. It has become clear that this was never true. The real use in is between 17 and 21 million gallons.
The pro-fracking community has always been quick to compare this to the amount of water that communities and farms use. This is an unfair comparison because the water we use is not permanently poisoned.
I have a glass of water next to me. And I know this water has been used countless times before. It has nourished animals and other people. It has grown trees, plants and crops. It’s been through lakes, fish and even supported life that is no longer here, such as dinosaurs.
And after I drink this glass it will be used again and again to support our children, grandchildren, every generation to come and every living thing on earth.
The only true comparison to be made is to compare the amount of water they poison to the amount of water we poison. When you look at it that way you realize they are the biggest polluters mankind has ever known.
