'Can't fix stupid'
I would like to recommend to the Record-Eagle a new feature column called "You can't fix stupid!"
Following are just a few examples: "Several hundred young fruit trees destroyed," "Couple caught nude in parking lot," "1963 Buick Riviera Classic vandalized," "Grave markers destroyed" and, my favorite, "Rocks thrown at passing vehicles" (by 20-year-olds; really?).
You just can't fix stupid! I look forward to seeing that column.
No hands over hearts
On Saturday, Nov. 3, there was a front-page photo in the Record-Eagle of 14 Traverse City Central Trojans football players standing as the national anthem is played. Not one hand is over a heart. How sad.
The headline of Nov. 7, "Obama wins," would have been just fine without the comment underneath, "Country re-elects president despite a weak economy." Sorry, but my take on that comment is the Record-Eagle is Republican paper. If you're going to make a comment like that, elaborate on it more. Obama wins would have been sufficient for the headline without the underlying comment.
Step back and think
Now that the election is over I believe we all need to step back and think about whether we are going to continue with all this Muslim and Birther garbage or are we going to set this aside and try to work with each other.
We had Mitch McConnell and a bunch of House GOP members come right out and say they wanted to make Obama a one-term president. Well, they failed, so let's try starting over on a better track. Let's not go along with Donald Trump. He has already stated that we need a revolution now because Obama won. If we are ever going to get this country back on track again we need to go back to the Clinton or Reagan tax plan, to where the fat cats pay a little more, not a lower percent than the working people. And we need to stop worrying about what religion someone is.
Are we going to let this get to the point where a Catholic won't vote for a Jew or a Baptist?
