---- — Drunk driving accident

I believe that the hit-and-run that occurred on July 5 was caused by a drunk driving accident. With the fact that Kelly Ann Boyce was hit at 2 a.m., it’s highly likely that the person that hit her could’ve been drinking. As a 13-year-old that rides bikes frequently, this makes me uncomfortable. I think extra precautions should be taken to prevent these types of accidents.

On quite a guilt trip

You know who you are, the person who took Kelly Boyce Hurlbert’s life prematurely, leaving her husband, Paul, and this community in grief and disbelief.

Your mind is releasing a steady stream of guilt and self-ridicule making it virtually impossible to get away with this crime. A source of refuge for you is to reveal yourself to a neighbor, friend or pastor.

It is time for you to step forward and face what you must face. There is so much anger directed toward you and it will increase the longer it is left to fester until finally you are caught or turned in by a friend or family member. Step forward and we will still be angry at you; the anger will surround you, and you will feel it. But you can ease the blow and retain a smidgeon of peace of mind by turning yourself in.

Your self-preservation is to treat the memory of the departed Kelly with dignity and help to bring closure to her family, friends and this community. Admittance on your part will be a first step toward forgiveness on our part.

Step up, we are waiting.
