‘Do as I say’

The recent op-ed about defining “conversation” for the liberal left reminded me of what seems so apparent as you read judgments being made in the media. Conservative voices are often saying about the “liberals” the very things that they are guilty of.

I think it is called “projection” — a defense mechanism in which a person unconsciously rejects his or her own unacceptable attributes by ascribing them to others; e.g., a person who is rude often accuses others of being rude. A critical person accuses others of being critical. A person who sees “conversation” by liberals as a code word for, “Do as I say,” is guilty of using “conversation” as a code word for “Do as I say.”

Listen to the talk radio voices and discover how often the judgments they have about others can be said about them. It is high wisdom to take seriously the words of Jesus, “Judge not that you be not judged.”

A voice of reason

We urge city residents to cast one of their votes for Ross Richardson. Ross will bring a needed voice of reason to the City Commission.

What honors vision?

To all those who think the re-use of the Con Foster building as the Bijou By The Bay is somehow an affront to the man’s legacy, I would pose this question: What honors his vision of the waterfront and all it has become better: an empty building with a rotting roof or a vibrant year-round attraction, properly maintained, that all can enjoy?
