Words that cause pain

Each year a number of words or phrases are suggested to be retired or banished. Examples include twerking, literally, it is what it is, etc.

Let’s add to that list the following words: millage, tourism and festival. Their end results cause pain, agony, frustration and suffering. Get rid of ‘em and the results they cause.

Credit all linemen

In regards to the Jan. 1 letter to the editor about Traverse City Light & Power, they were not the only utility company to be doing storm work over the Christmas holiday. Cherryland Electric and CC Power also had crews out of town. I think all our linemen and other worker should be acknowledged. Give credit to all the deserved.

Make most of negative

What is to be done with the wind turbine at the corner of Bugai Road and M-72? There is talk of tearing it down as it is beyond repair. Why spend however much it would cost to dismantle it when we could turn it into a huge party (festival, if you would) by having an implosion?

You see, implosions take place all over the world, why not here? I’m sure everyone who likes a huge bang would come to such an event.

Any implosion of the turbine would not have to be done at the Open Space and could be done at any time of the year.

Let’s make a party out of a negative.
