Veterans say thanks

The Battle of the Bulge Chapter 23 offers our heartfelt appreciation for the outstanding tribute to our members the Record-Eagle published Dec. 22.

It was so accurate, precise and recognized each member. We are honored.

Wants vs. needs

I am a Traverse City transplant going on 13 years. I chose TC because it has so much to offer my young family.

I love this town but am getting very frustrated with the many organizations (private and public) that fail to realize the difference between a want and a need. My past has exposed me to many communities that have genuine needs. Trust me when I say auditoriums, a fifth pedestrian bridge, parking garages, dog parks and splash pads are not on their list.

Traverse City needs to maintain and appreciate the infrastructure it has instead of always wanting more. Adversity builds character and unfortunately, adversity is the one thing Traverse City cannot claim.

I do not want to offend the movers and shakers of TC as I have reaped the benefits of their labor, I only ask a line be drawn between wants and needs, especially when it comes to the use of public funds.
