Best candidate
I'm supporting Eric Grebe for Garfield Township treasurer and I'm encouraging my family and friends to do the same. Let me tell you why.
I've met Eric Grebe and found him to be a thoughtful, well-informed individual. He is a conservative Republican businessman who will make sure the treasurer's office provides taxpayers with value for their hard-earned money.
I think it's important that we elect the best candidate who is most qualified for the office, not a political appointee.
On Aug. 5, vote to elect Eric Grebe as Garfield Township treasurer.

Careful choices needed
Do the people who are jumping on the bandwagon and promoting oil drilling off the coasts of Florida and California and in ANWR realize there is no guarantee that oil drilled here will end up heating our homes and fueling our cars? It may end up on the world oil market and we will end up seeing no relief in prices! It is feasible that Saudi Arabia will then respond by cutting their production followed by still higher prices. You know the story! Just ask your congressman if what I say is true.
What we need is to move away from fossil fuels and our dependence on foreign countries for our energy. We should be looking at many clean, renewable, safe alternatives. But we need to be smart about our choices. That means before we start thinking that nuclear power is the logical choice, we need to face the fact that we have not solved the problem of what to do with the spent fuel rods and dangerous radioactive waste that we would be leaving for our children's children to deal with.
We don't want to leap out of the frying pan and into the fire with no thought of the consequences!
