Too many 'czars'

What is it with the current Obama administration that makes me question whether they have the best interest of the United States at heart, or whether they wish to grab as much power as the opportunities allow them?

With all the new "czar" appointments of late, one might conclude they have a strange fascination and appreciation for the prior Russian empire. Perhaps it's just me and that's what the citizens want. I doubt it, though, and I believe many are downright scared of the power grabs ongoing as we write.

They should be. A lot of damage is being done. A lot more has been proposed. I don't admire any "czar," foreign or American born. Wake up and voice your concern loudly to your representatives and friends.

Regulate factory farms

It is very concerning that a package of bills recently introduced (HB 5127, HB 5128, SB 654, and SB 655) to the Michigan Legislature would take power from the Legislature and citizens and put factory farms in charge of regulating themselves.

It would mean animals on factory farms in Michigan would continue to suffer with no one allowed to legislate improvements. The package of bills would also accept common industry practices such as cruel confinement of animals in tiny cages as humane.

We must write to our state senator, representative and Gov. Granholm to oppose this package of bills.
