HAMTRAMCK — Herman Joseph Thomas Sr.; born Jan. 30, 1925 in Hamtramck, passed peacefully on Sept. 21, 2012, a heroic man who lived a life full of love.
His dear wife Caroline passed before him; cherished father to: Herman (Laurie); Kristine (aka Tina) Lepore; Robert (Linda), and Joyce; blessed grandfather to: Heather Steele (Brett), Matthew Lepore, Melissa Topazi (Patrick), John Thomas, Andrea Bledsoe (Dave), Lauren Thomas (Charles), Anthony Lepore, Jordan Thomas, Nicholas Thomas, Sarah Thomas, Samantha Thomas; proud great-grandfather to his ten "gg's". He is survived by his little sister Helene Brzezinski (Al), preceded in death by mother Helen, father Dave, sisters Frances (Tujaka) and Rose (Kozak).
He attended Our Lady Queen of Apostles, Sacred Heart Seminary, St. Ladislaus High School, served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the Pacific Theatre, had a long career at GM Design Staff Technical Center; involved in Junior Achievement, worked after retirement in the Macomb College Industrial Co-op Program.
