---- — HUDSON — Victoria C. Sanborn, age 86, of Hudson, formerly of Cheboygan, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Hospice Home of Lenawee in Adrian.

She was born on June 8, 1927, in Free Soil, the daughter of James Walter and Mary (Jagielska) Niemiec. Victoria married James “Arlie” Sanborn on June 7, 1947, in Traverse City, and he survives.

She worked as a waitress in her early years and was a hostess for Welcome Wagon Greeting Service in Cheboygan, Indian River and Wolverine.

Victoria loved gardening, arts and crafts and doing cross stitch.

She was member of American Legion Auxiliary, 8 & 40, D.A.V. Auxiliary and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cheboygan and Hudson First United Methodist Church in Hudson. Victoria was very active in the UM Woman’s Group, County Extension and as a 4-H leader.

Victoria is survived by her husband, Arlie; their three children, Jeffery (Kathleen) Sanborn, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Michael (JoAnn) Sanborn, of Hudson, and Jackie (Henry) Peets, of Maumelle, Ark.; five grandchildren, Sarah, Katherine, James J. (Amy), David Sanborn and Jacob Peets; three brothers and a sister, Edward Niemiec, of Manistee, Jerome Niemiec, of Scottville, Henry (Joanne) Niemiec, of Scottville, and Emily Froehlich, of Lakewood, Calif.; sister-in-law, Joan (Robert) Chamberlain, of Grand Rapids; special niece, Cindy Chamberlain; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers and a sister, Eleanor Forbes, Raymond and Bronzil Niemiec.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at the Hudson First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Bradley Luck officiating. Interment of cremains will take place in Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City at a later date.
