GLADWIN — Ronald Lee Heffner, 74, of Gladwin, passed away suddenly at Mid Michigan Medical Center, Midland, on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013. He was born in Gladwin on Nov. 13, 1938, the son of Edwin and Gladys (Eagleson) Heffner. He had lived most of his life in Gladwin County.
Following high school he went to work for Dow Chemical Company in Midland. After that he went to work for Wolverine Camper, where he became vice president. In 1975 he moved to Manistique and opened Hiawatha Real Estate, working until his retirement in 2000. He then moved back to Gladwin.
He is survived by his son, Brian (Cara) Heffner, of Traverse City; daughter, Kimberly (Dennis) Blaskowski, also of Traverse City; four grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) Baker, Christopher (Patti) Miller, Elyse and Erica Heffner; four great-grandchildren, Lilia, Maya and Ellisyn Miller and Wesley Baker; brother, Duane (Betty) Heffner, of Mancelona; sisters, Lois Howell, of Gladwin, Beverly (Thomas) Cameron, of Durand, and Karen (Tommy) Miller, of Kawkawlin; brother, Dennis (Micki) Heffner, of Scottville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth Heffner; and sister, Judy Caine.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Dave Amstutz on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9 a.m., at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, from 2 to 9 p.m., also at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Ridge Cemetery, Gladwin.
