TRAVERSE CITY — Lorraine Murphy, 98, of Traverse City, passed away at Grand Traverse Pavilions on Aug. 20, 2013. She was born on Dec. 1, 1914, to Leon and Bernice (Sleeper) Moore in Traverse City.
Lorraine graduated from Traverse City High School in 1932. She married Robert Murphy on Aug. 31, 1935. For over 23 years, Lorraine worked as a clerk for Cunningham’s Drug Store. In her free time, Lorraine enjoyed reading, walking, playing cards, dancing, and traveling. She was also one of the first Girl Scouts.
Lorraine is survived by her son, Leon Murphy, daughter-in-law Louise Murphy, son-in-law Dean Clark; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Jim Murphy, Richard Murphy, Maralyn Clark, and Wanda Barker, and sister Ester Gray.
