COPEMISH — Ruth Eloise Branyan, 79, of Copemish, passed away Friday, Dec. 14, at Munson Medical Center, joining her family in heaven. She was born in Battle Creek on Jan. 19, 1933, to Rollin and Francis (Fox) Branyan.
Ruth retired from the U.S. Postal Service and served many years as a volunteer through the Senior Companions Program.
She will be remembered for her love of family and compassion for others. She had many hobbies, especially sewing quilts for her grandchildren, reading, traveling, tending her flower gardens, camping, fishing, rock hunting with her family, feeding and watching wild birds in her backyard and cooking - whether trying out new recipes from her beloved cookbook collection or making the family favorites.
Ruth was a loving mother of four children, Charles E. Goudreau (Becki), of Montague, Denise Marteinez (Carlos), of Livermore, Calif., Douglas T. (Paula) Goudreau, of St. Ignace, and John Goudreau (Barb Rennie), of Thompsonville. She was the grandmother of eight grandchildren and one-great grandchild; and sister to Lillian Mae Stephens, of High Springs, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Helen Branyan; and a brother, Rollin "Johnny" Branyan Jr.
Her life will be celebrated by a gathering of friends and family in Wolverine at a later date when the lilacs are blooming and spring is in the air. Cremation has taken place.
Dodson Funeral Home, St. Ignace, assisted the family with arrangements.
