---- — ROYAL OAK — Joseph Franklin “Frank” McGillivary, age 80, of Royal Oak, died peacefully May 6, 2013, in hospice after a long and courageous battle against several debilitating medical conditions.
A retired member of Teamsters Local 247, he served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Frank was as an avid outdoorsman and golfer who loved to visit Northern Michigan and the Traverse City area.
He was the beloved husband of the late Jeanne Marie (Marchildon); loving father of Michael (the late Pam), of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Brian (Rebecca), of Traverse City, Diane (Charles) Dagher, of Royal Oak, and the late Sheryl; dear brother of the late John, James and Joan (the late Albert) Johnson; brother-in-law of Nancy; and proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren.
Frank will lie in state today from 11:30 a.m. until time of Mass at noon at the National Shrine of the Little Flower, Royal Oak. Inurnment with Military Honors will take place on Monday at 10 a.m. at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
