---- — FRANKFORT — Celia Doris (Terpenning) Rust, 104, died peacefully surrounded by family at her home in Frankfort on May 8, 2013.
She was born April 17, 1909, in Wexford County, to Alonzo and Hattie Terpenning. After World War I her family moved to Grand Rapids, where she met and married her husband of 48 years, August “Gus” Rust. Shortly after starting their family they moved to Muskegon.
Celia owned and operated the Airport Restaurant until the airport needed the land for expansion. She worked in the Kaydon’s cafeteria until it was phased out. Celia then worked as the breakfast cook and pie maker at the Cherokee Restaurant until she retired.
In 1984 she moved north to Honor, then Frankfort. Celia was an avid reader with a wonderful sense of humor and a strong desire to always be useful. She was still doing the family dishes and folding the clothes at 104.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers and sister-in-laws, Leon, Bernard (Pauline), Floyd (Mary) and James (Bessie) Terpenning; children, Raymond Rust, Lois McPherson and Lucille Reid; and son-in-law, Wallace Reid.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Joyce Rust; son-in-law, Lawrence McPherson; nieces and nephews; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-great-grandchildren, whom she always considered her life’s treasures.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 13, at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Muskegon, with her great-grandson, Delbert Yoder officiating. She will be laid to rest in Sunrise Mausoleum in Muskegon.
