TRAVERSE CITY — Sandra Jane Werth, 65, of Traverse City, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Sandra was born on Oct. 24, 1946, to the late Merlin and Catherine (Squires) Burns-Galbraith in Lake Ann. Sandy or "Sam" entered into marriage with Carl Werth Jr. in December 1965.
She was a 1964 graduate of Central High School in Traverse City. She also attended NMC.
After she and Carl moved to Bridgport she went to work for her husband's business, and soon she was drawing up electrical diagrams for her husband's engineering company and for other companies as well. Sandy was just a natural with everything she got involved.
Sandy could often be found on the golf course or out walking her dogs. She was a member of the Elmbrook Golf Club and a former member of Traverse City Golf and Country Club. She loved playing golf and was in many tournaments for certain charities. Sandy was also a dog lover. At one time she could be seen walking seven dogs at once. Her pride and joy was her little terrier, Cacie. Sandy played the organ, the piano and the accordion.
She had a fond eye for antiques and filled her home collecting many beautiful pieces. Sandy will be remembered for her love of animals and antiques, her beautiful smile and her friendships. She will be greatly missed.
The family wishes to extend a very sincere thank you to her caregivers over the past few months. She cared about each of you very much. The family also wishes to say thank you to Kirsten for not only being there for Sandy but for helping in so many ways.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband, Carl Werth, of Bridgeport; one brother, Michael Purkiss, of North Carolina; and many other loving family members and friends.
Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering has been held.
