Robert W. Reed Died Jan. 23, 2014

BENZONIA — Robert W. Reed, of Benzonia, 57, died Jan. 23, 2014, at his home.

Bob graduated from Benzie Central High School (1975). During school he participated in JV football, wrestling and Boy Scouts. After graduating he received his master certificate from a diesel and mechanics school.

He worked for various companies, Streeter Timber (cutting wood), Transport Sales, Feel Brothers and Star Truck Rentals as a diesel mechanic. He currently worked at Benzie County Schools as Supervisor of Transportation.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing. You could find him in any season enjoying beautiful northern Michigan with his family and friends. Whether he was snowmobiling, four wheeling, mudding or driving Jeeps, he loved nature and adventure. He took pride in his Harley and custom chopper.

He was devoted to his family and cherished his time spent with them.

He is survived by wife, Debbie; daughters, Meg (Stephen) Hubbard and Bobbie (Joseph) Brooks; stepchildren, Tim (Corinne) Gonyon, Denis Jr. (Jennifer) Gonyon, Jeanett (Esay) Pritchett, Shane Gonyon and Randi Cooper; siblings, Vicki Harrison, Sally Johnson, Sheri (Phil) McPherson, Lorin (Tiffany) Reed; grandkids, Devin Poynor, Robert Hubbard, Caitlyn, Kylie, Marissa, Joseph, Caleb, Lily and Mary Brooks, Taylor, Timmy, and Leyton Gonyon, Charlotte and Greyson Gonyon, Miles, Cole, and Parker Pritchett, Bryson and Emily Gonyon; many nieces and nephews; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by beloved mom, Geraldine Smeltzer; dad, Charles Reed; stepdad, Bud Smeltzer; brother-in-law, Dayl (Vicki) Harrison; mother-in-law, Joy (Russell ) Bailey; and various loved ones.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Jowett Family Funeral Homes, Benzonia. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m. at the Benzie Central High School Auditorium. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service.
