SENECA, S.C. — Donald Ray Wales, 92, of 505 Benton St., Seneca, S.C., passed away on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at the Cottingham Hospice House. Born in Kingsley, he was the son of the late George and Ina Keffer Wales.
Mr. Wales was retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after serving 22 years, having also served 20 months in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include sons, Larry Wales, of Westminster, S.C., Greg Wales (Donna), of Seneca, S.C., and Scott Wales (Natalie), of San Francisco, Calif.; brother, Stanley Wales, of Summit; sister, Rena Sarsky, of Kingsley; and two grandchildren, Rebekah Lynn Wales and Loren Ashley Wales, of Seneca, S.C.
In addition to his parents, brother, Glen Wales and sisters, Georgetta Wilson and Claribel Webster preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, from the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. The family members are at their respective homes.
