NORTHPORT — On Jan. 19, 2014, Dorothy Anne (Czernkovich) Strong, of Northport, died in her home after a swift decline just before her 90th birthday.
She was under the excellent care of Munson Hospice and Share Care of Leelanau, tended by her daughters, Julie Chai, of Traverse City, Janean Strong, of Canada; her son-in-law, Youngman Chai; and her cat, Sammy Sue.
Dorothy joins her late husband, Keith; and her beloved parents, Anna and Emil Czernkovich; and many relatives and friends who have made the journey into the light and love of God before her.
Dorothy grew up in Houghton/Hancock and lived in Dearborn, Minnesota, Switzerland, Versailles, France, and Corunna before moving to Northport.
She was a loving mother, wife and humanist with a keen intellect until her death.
She graduated MSU with a master’s degree in social work and married Keith who was studying at Michigan Tech at the time.
Dorothy will be cremated, per her request; her ashes will be scattered with those of her husband.
The memorial service will be Saturday, Jan. 25, at 11:30 a.m., at Trinity United Church of Christ, 103 N. Warren St., Northport, with a luncheon to follow.
