GILMORE TWP. — Nancy Lee Gallegos, 74, of Gilmore Twp., passed away Jan. 18, 2014, at Munson Medical Center. Born Jan. 17, 1940, in Grand Rapids, she was the daughter of Galvin and Wahneta (Keser) Reyburn.
While growing up in Bitely she began her love of horses, which turned into a job running the John Flood Stables for five years.
After working at the stables Nancy was the first in the family to attend college, and she went on to obtain her nursing degree.
Employment brought her to Frankfort, where she worked at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital for over 40 years, 16 of those years were in obstetrics until downsizing moved the department to Traverse City. She had three babies named after her.
Another way she liked to help others was through blood donation. She was a 10 gallon club member.
Besides her loves of horses and riding she also enjoyed being outdoors, fishing the water near and far, walking the beaches and playing in the waves.
Being a single parent and working hard she managed to save enough to take a family vacation every summer to Minnesota or the Upper Peninsula. She also traveled to various places including Alaska, New York, Montana and Hawaii.
She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and was at most local sporting events to watch her children. She participated in a bowling and softball league.
