TRAVERSE CITY — GeorgeAnn Wheelock VanBrocklin, of Traverse City, passed away on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014. She was born Sept. 4, 1950 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of the late George and Ruth Wheelock of Lake Ann.
GeorgeAnn grew up in the Benzie-Traverse City area. She enjoyed being outside and watching the birds eat out of their feeders. She loved all animals especially dogs. GeorgeAnn also loved nature. One of her goals in life was to have a wildlife animal sanctuary.
She was very special and simple, always a giver, never a taker. She loved her family and would do anything for them. GeorgeAnn enjoyed yard sales and always knew the best deals.
The last six months of her life, she battled cancer.
Her brother, George Wheelock and his wife Michelle and kids took care of her in their home.
GeorgeAnn will be missed by many but never forgotten. One of her favorite quotes she lived by was “expect a miracle.” When God made you, GeorgeAnn, He made the best sister a brother could have.
GeorgeAnn was preceded in death by her sister, Hattie May; her parents; two brothers, John and Jerry. Surviving are two sons, Ron of Chicago and Thunder of Seoul, South Korea; three brother, Sol Wheelock of Thompsonville, George and David of Traverse City; and sister, Diane Dwyer of Traverse City.
A memorial will be held later this year. Thank you to all of the agencies that helped GeorgeAnn.
