TRAVERSE CITY — Barbara Joan Kendall, 80, of Traverse City, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 21, 1933, in Traverse City.
Barbara married Art Kendall in 1969 in California. She enjoyed listening to country music, playing chicken tracks domino game with her family and eating at Randy’s Diner. Barbara was fun loving, full of life, always smiling and never met a stranger; for she spoke to everyone she met along her path in life.
Surviving Barbara are her children, Gary (Karen) Irish, Lori (Cameron) Garst, Randy Irish, Connie (Mark) Drake, and Leslie Irish; her grandchildren, Matthew, Carrie, Megan, Joe, Lisa, Jessi, Austin, and Morgan; great-grandchildren, William, Nichole, Greyson, Sawyer, Catilyn, and Piper; her siblings, Ben (Mary) Ryon, Betty Green, Bonnie (John) Hentschel; sister-in-law, Pat Ryon; very special aunt, Betty Leach; and numerous nieces and nephews. All her family is from Traverse City.
Preceding Barbara in death was her husband, Art Kendall; and brother, Barry Ryon.
A memorial fund has been set up for Barbara’s great grandson, Greyson Barlow, who recently suffered a head injury and underwent brain surgery. Contact a family member for more information. A private memorial service will be held with her family in the spring.
