MANCELONA — Richard L. "Dick" Lucas Sr., 77, of Mancelona, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Aspen Ridge in Gaylord.
Richard was born July 18, 1933, in Traverse City, the son of Harrison and Virginia Lucas.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a lifelong resident of Mancelona. He was involved in the law enforcement in Mancelona and Antrim County for many years. For decades he was involved in the Chain of Lakes Little League — awarded the 20-, 30- and 40-year recognition of service from the Michigan High School Athletic Association — and also a member of the Lions Club.
He is survived by three sons, Richard (Audrey) Lucas Jr., of Boulder, Wyo., Bruce (Annette) Lucas, of Mount Pleasant, and Thomas (Cheryl) Lucas, of Highland; three grandchildren, Megan, Amy and Thomas Lucas Jr; one brother, two sisters and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death in 2003 by his wife, Susanne Lucas.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today, April 14, also at the funeral home. The burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Mancelona in the summer.
