---- — TRAVERSE CITY — Charles Warren Jennings, 76, of Traverse City, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Munson Medical Center, of pulmonary fibrosis.
Charles was born on April 4, 1937, in Detroit. He was the oldest of four sons of Charles H. and Margaret Jennings.
He graduated from De La Salle High School in 1954 and went on to attend the University of Michigan, where he received his MBA in 1959. He received his law degree from the University of Detroit Law School in 1970.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.
Charles worked for Ford Motor Company until he moved with his family to West Branch. Charles initially served as Ogemaw County prosecutor and then worked as an attorney in private practice until his retirement when he moved to Traverse City.
On Nov. 9, 1963, he married Geraldine Staufert. They had four children, Carolyn Jennings (Dennis Kraniak), of Royal Oak, Jill Jennings (Bradley Chaplin), of Traverse City, Michael Jennings (Alfred Giosa), of Philadelphia, Pa., and Peter Jennings (Katie Cowley), of Dale Abbey, England; and six grandchildren, Alex and Jeremy Chao, Max and Raquel Kraniak, and Owen and Sophia Jennings.
Charles is survived by his wife; children, Ernie and Bertie; his devoted pets; and two brothers, Tom, of Hattiesburg, Miss., and John of Albuquerque, N.M.
He was active in many organizations, including the Kiwanis Morning Club of Traverse City and was a devoted parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling and skiing, and received great pleasure spending time with his family and friends.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 11 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Church of Traverse City, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Association or American Diabetes Association.
