KALKASKA — Edward "Eddie" Dmochowski, 93, of Kalkaska, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born on Dec. 19, 1918 in Detroit, the son of the late Casimer and Stanislawa Dmochowski.
Eddie married Elizabeth Brucki on Nov. 22, 1941 in Detroit. He was a veteran serving our country in the U.S. Army, at San Francisco, during World War II. Ed retired from the City of Detroit after 32 years of service and moved to Wagenschutz Road in Kalkaska. His hobbies included golf, bowling, outdoor activities and working in the garage fixing things and making things for the kids. Eddie was a life member of the VFW Post 8684 and was their bartender for over 17 years. He loved participating with the veterans and enjoyed their friendship and support. Eddie was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church.
Surviving Eddie is his wife, Elizabeth, of 71 years; their children, Barbara Dmochowski of Bellaire, Carol (James) Jermanus of Canton, Pamela Thompson of Leesburg, Fla. and Marri (Steven) Hogerheide of South Boardman; grandchildren, Debra (Gary) Shelton, Cheri Jermanus, Amie (Dan) Deak, Robyn (Mike) Nowak, Brad (Jamie) Hogerheide, Jeff (Kellie) Hogerheide and Mike Hogerheide; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Eddie in death are his siblings, Casimer, Theodore, Edwin and Stella.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home with visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Military honors will be provided by his beloved VFW Post 8684. Burial will be at Excelsior Township Cemetery.
