TRAVERSE CITY — Donnita Hazel Sieffert, age 75 of East Duck Lake, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Donnita was born on Sept. 22, 1937 in Buckley, Mich. to Alvah and Lavisa (Davis) Bancroft. On Sept. 25, 1954 Donnita married Everett Sieffert who preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 2004.
Donnita was an accomplished seamstress, and worked in that capacity for Interlochen Center for the Arts, for 24 years, retiring in June of 2001. A member of Grawn United Methodist Church, she enjoyed working with the ladies of the "In Stiches" quilting group. Donnita was a big basketball fan, and also enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, baking, and going for walks, but her greatest joy was doing things with her grandchildren.
Besides her husband Everett, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Eva Fern Fredric, and son in law Scott Trager. She is survived by her children: Allen (Janet) Sieffert of Grawn, Neta (Darrell) Jewell of Grawn, and Connie Trager of McBain. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Heather (Nathaniel) Sullivan, Amber Jewell, Autumn (Kyle) Rector, Stacy Sieffert, Brian, Laurie and Lisa Trager; three great-grandchildren Sierra, Kaitlyn and Ethan Sullivan; three sisters Berneice Gonder of Traverse City, Sandra (Leonard) Mackie of Corunna and Sharon (Glen) Byers of Kalkaska; two brothers Wayne (Carol) Bancroft of Buckley and Ronald Bancroft of Bendon.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, December 5, at the Grawn First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Covell Funeral Home, 200 N. Brownson Avenue, Kingsley, and at the church on Wednesday beginning at noon.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Grawn United Methodist Church Youth Ministry or Munson Hospice House through the Covell Funeral Home.
