RIVER FALLS, Wis. — Dorothy Lillian Schulz, age 85, passed away on Nov. 21, 2013, at Comforts of Home in River Falls, Wis.
Dorothy worked for many years at Grand Traverse Auto in Traverse City and was active in her church, teaching adult Bible studies and with Stephen’s Ministry.
She delighted in gardening and watching the birds attracted to the feeders she kept filled. She introduced herself as a “nature nut” to her fellow residents at Comforts of Home when she relocated there in 2010.
Her love and sense of humor will be missed by her surviving family: brothers, Richard and Robert (Leticia) Stroebel, of Saginaw; sister-in-law, Aileen Stroebel, of Plymouth; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Bill) Cyr, of Mentone, Ala.; her children, Carol A. (Thomas) Peterson, of River Falls, Wis., Bethany K. Schulz, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Matthew J. Schulz, of Traverse City; grandsons, Christopher Blitz, Andrew and Benjamin (Britt) Peterson and Jason and Joshua Schulz; three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, John C. Schulz, of Traverse City; parents, Ralph W. and Clara (Bernthal) Stroebel; brothers, Ralph and Clinton; sister, Catherine (Nathaniel) Tackabury; as well as sister-in-law, Laura Stroebel.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m., at Joy Lutheran Church in Prescott, Wis., with visitation at 10 a.m. Burial of cremated remains will take place in Traverse City next spring.
Memorials are preferred to Lutheran World Relief or the Father Fred Foundation of Traverse City.
Many, many thanks is extended to the wonderful staff at both River Falls Comforts of Home Assisted Living and Memory Care, whose support, love and compassion made Dorothy’s last years better than we could have imagined.
Cashman-Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Services, River Falls, Wis., is serving the family.
