TRAVERSE CITY — Donald Warren “Duck” Forrester, 53, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully Nov. 24, 2013, after a year-long battle with brain cancer. Don was born on Dec. 8, 1959, the son of Thomas and Nancy Forrester.
Prior to his illness Don was employed with Century Heat Treating as a nighttime supervisor.
In his spare time you could find Don at his “second” home, The Parkshore. Don enjoyed spending his summer off-days lying on the beach. In the fall/winter Don would be enjoying a beer or two with his brothers while watching whatever sporting event was being played on TV. Don was a huge Michigan Football fan. He loved going to the Big House and cheering on his team!
He had a huge heart and would do anything for anyone; he always had a smile on his face. Family and friends were very important to Don. He was a true friend to all.
A special thank you is extended to all of the people who helped take care of Don, and loved him, as he struggled with his illness.
Don is survived by his daughters, Megan (Craig) Davis and Taylor Forrester, both of Okemos; his grandson, Briley and baby grandson due in February; his mother, Nancy; brothers, Bruce (Julie) and Craig (Mindy), of Traverse City; sisters, Terri (Mike) Hodges, of Traverse City, and Micky (Aldo Hofer) Forrester, of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Thomas; stepmother, Annette; and baby brother, Ronnie.
A celebration of Don’s life will take place at noon on Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at Life Story Funeral Home in Traverse City. Family will greet friends prior to the celebration at 10 a.m.
