TRAVERSE CITY — Christine Maren Hoopfer, age 62, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully at Munson Hospice House with her husband at her side, Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013. She was born Dec. 31, 1950, in Traverse City, to Woodrow and Margaret (Robbins) Brinkman.
She graduated from Traverse City Central in 1969 and received her bachelor’s degree in art from San Francisco Academy of Arts.
Chris married William Hoopfer on Feb. 2, 1987, and together they raised their daughter, Maren.
She was passionate about her faith and her family and lived a spiritual life. Chris reveled in outdoor activities with her beloved dogs. She dedicated her life to her husband and daughter.
She was always ready to travel and explore new vistas. Together they spent time in the Upper Peninsula and the Great Lakes regions. She decorated, depicted and enhanced the lives of those around her with prolific illustration, photography, carpentry and creations.
Chris will be greatly missed and remembered by her husband, Bill, of Acme, and daughter, Maren Hoopfer, of Chicago, for her contribution to their lives.
She is survived by her sister and brother.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation will be held today, Nov. 15, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. A funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at 11 a.m., at the Kewadin United Methodist Church. Burial will take place Monday on the Hoopfer family plot in S. Milton Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Chris’ name may be directed to A.C.T.S. of Williamsburg.
