TRAVERSE CITY — Denise Elaine Wilson, 58, of Kingsley, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at the Acme Terrace Adult Foster Care Home, surrounded by her family. Denise was born on May 10, 1952, to the late Ivan and Bessie (Voice) Wilson in Traverse City.

Denise was born with special needs and was always a true joy to be around. She was committed to her education, spending several years with the Traverse Bay Area Special Education Program and graduating with her certificate in 1978.

Denise was employed with G.T. Industries, working there for a span of 20 years until 2006.

After the death of her parents, Denise was cared for by her siblings and two special nieces, Vickie Hays and Marlene Simbulan. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends.

Denise is survived by her sisters, Muriel (Nahum) Avery of Traverse City, Jacqueline (Myron) Fredenburg of Mason, Nancy Wilson, also of Mason, Sandra (Ken) Sleder of Traverse City, Diane (Jim) Cowley of Traverse City, Gloria (Dennis) Burke of Kingsley and Jennifer (Wayne) Simmons of Traverse City; her brother, Jim (Cheryl) Wilson of Kingsley; 28 nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends.

Denise was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Duane Wilson in 2004.

Memorial services will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at the Central United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tom Randall officiating. The family will receive friends at the church a half-hour prior to the time of service. Graveside committal services will be held in Evergreen Cemetery in Kingsley at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed G.T. Industries, a non-profit employer for the disabled, or the Hospice of Michigan.

The family would like to extend a thank you for all those at Acme Terrace AFC for love, care and support over the last three years. Denise was born with Down Syndrome. Her love was unconditional. "She has been our angel and now she is our angel in heaven."
