TRAVERSE CITY — Betty Jane Stulz, age 88, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, surrounded by her loving family at the hospice house. Betty Jane Wooll was born on April 10, 1925, in Detroit, to the late Judson and Ella (Hilton) Wooll. She married her husband of 69 years, Quintus Stulz, on June 24, 1944, at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Detroit.
Betty was a member of Central United Methodist Church and her faith was very important to her. She loved to sing and was a member of various church choirs for over 44 years.
Betty faithfully wrote in her diaries daily since 1948. She enjoyed playing shuffle board at the senior center, her daily walks at the mall with Quintus, was an avid reader and a loyal Detroit Tigers fan. Spending time with her family brought her great joy.
Surviving are her loving husband, Quintus; three daughters and a son, Linda (Glenn) Harker, of Traverse City, Norman (Sharon) Stulz, of Holly, Edith (Tom) Wysocki, of Plymouth, and Beverly (Matt) Rocha, of Waterford; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Alfred Wooll, of Ann Arbor.
Friends are welcome to visit with Betty’s family on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A funeral service honoring Betty will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at Central United Methodist Church, 222 Cass St., Traverse City, with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Dale Ostema will officiate.
