---- — MIDLAND, Mich. — Virgil A. LaPlante Jr., 76, of Midland, formerly of Bay City and Mesick, Mich. passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2013 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center following a lingering illness. He was born in Bay City on July 22, 1937 to the late Virgil A. and Viola (Kraues) LaPlante.
He graduated from Visitation High School in the Class of 1955 and was a supervisor/manager for Schiller Inc. in Bay City for many years, then went on to manage Great Plains Gas/National Propane in Buckley.
Virgil is a member of the Mesick United Methodist Church, and a former member of Amvet’s Post #120-Sons of Mesick and Elks Club of Essexville. He enjoyed his family, traveling, golfing, fishing, boating, camping and hunting.
He married the former Eileen K. Coger on Oct. 1, 1993 in Traverse City, she survives him. He is also survived by six children, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, three brothers and a sister. He was preceded in death by a sister.
Memorial Services will be held at noon, Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013 at the Mesick United Methodist Church, 121 S. Alvin, Mesick. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the United Methodist Church of Mesick, Mich.
