TRAVERSE CITY — Ethel Mae Fasel, 83, of Traverse City, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013. Ethel was born on May 13, 1930, in Bendon, to the late Elmer and Elaine (Hiler) Avery.
She married Lawrence M. Fasel on March 25, 1948. Together they lovingly raised six wonderful children.
Ethel was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
She enjoyed going to the casino, sewing, and she was a wonderful cook. Most importantly, Ethel cherished her family and her three Chihuahuas. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving Ethel are her children, Shirley Clark, Mary (Donald) Strang, Susan Henschell, Edward Fasel, Matthew (Tanya) Fasel and Robert Fasel; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Lynn (Dennis) McDaniel and Michael (Colleen) Avery; and many other loving family members and friends.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; and siblings, Jean Underhill and Junior Avery.
Visitation for Ethel will be held on Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
