TRAVERSE CITY — Mary Alice Blake, 77, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on Nov. 20, 1935, in Munising, to the late Lavern and Marie (Degarie) Mahoney.
She married Thomas Olin Blake on May 19, 1956, in Traverse City, at St. Francis Catholic Church. Together they lovingly raised two wonderful children.
Mary was a proud graduate of the St. Francis class of 1954 and a member of the school bowling team.
After graduation she worked at JC Penney in the business department then went to Burwoods for 20-plus years.
Mary enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, hunting in her earlier years and most importantly, spending time with her family.
Mary was a great wife, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her family.
Surviving Mary are her husband of 56 years, Thomas; children, Deborah Tomei and Thomas (Jerilyn) Blake; and grandchildren, John (Kayla) Tomei, Josie Blake and Thomas Blake.
Visitation will be held for Mary on Friday, April 19, 2013, from 3 to 6 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Private family services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
