Rosalene 'Rosie' Weaver

Traverse City Record-Eagle

---- — BUCKLEY — Rosalene “Rosie” Weaver, age 74, of Buckley, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013, at her home. She was born Sept. 27, 1938, in Buckley, to Marion and Viola (Middaugh) Kellogg.

Rosie graduated from Buckley High School in 1956.

On July 7, 1977, Rosie married the late Sam Weaver.

She worked for the State Hospital for over 17 years until its closing in 1989. She then went to work for the Buckley Schools as a cook and bus driver. Rosie was the head bus coordinator and drove for many of the school events over the years.

She was an active member of the Buckley Old Engine Show, 4-H Leather and Laces group, treasurer for the Buckley Alumni Association and treasurer for the Cornell Cemetery Association.

Over the years she enjoyed playing cards with family, racing stock cars, snowmobiling, the Hayloft, the casino, and there was rarely an auction or yard sale that she would miss. Rosie loved to spend time camping at the lake lot on Bass Lake, but there was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with her family. They were her true passion. There wasn’t an event or holiday that she would miss. Her passing will forever change family gatherings and grandchildren’s school events.

Rosie will be greatly missed by her children, Amos Nickerson, of Buckley, Andrea (Robert Weber) Nickerson, of Buckley, Samuel (Patti) Weaver, of Mesick, Wanda Weaver, of Traverse City, and Pamela Weaver, of Traverse City; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; siblings, Karen Weber, of Buckley, and Robert (Sandra) Kellogg, of Buckley; first husband, Amos Nickerson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, Sam in 1996; children, Susan Marie Nickerson, Debra Lynn Nickerson and Cynthia Weaver; and a sister, Sandra Harris.

A visitation will be held Friday, April 19, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley. A funeral will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 2 p.m., at the Buckley High School, with visitation two hours prior. Burial at Cornell Cemetery will be held at a later date.
