GRAWN — Bonnie Jean Griffin, 72, of Grawn, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, surrounded by her loving family.
Bonnie was born on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 1940, to the late Norris and Alma (Thomas) Beckwith in Traverse City. She graduated from Traverse City High School and married Robert D. Griffin on Saturday, Nov. 28, 1959, in Traverse City.
Bonnie lived in Traverse City all her life. She was a life member of VFW Auxillary, enjoyed reading, gardening, and playing cards, but her greatest joy was time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchldren.
Bonnie is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Deb) Griffin of Traverse City, and Michael Griffin of San Diego, Calif.; her grandchildren, Kyle (Lindsay), Kayla and Corey; and her great-grandchildren, Addison Kaye and Easton Robert. Also surviving are her sisters, Darlene Abbott of Illinois, Rosie (Pete) Thiel of Traverse City and Cheryl Levin of Florida; as well as nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, on Jan. 7, 2012; by her parents; and a sister, Connie Luper.
A memorial luncheon will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at the VFW Cherryland Post in Traverse City. A private family graveside service will take place at a later time.
Rather than flowers, Bonnie had requested that memorial contributions be directed to the Cherryland VFW Post 2780, 3400 Veterans Dr., Traverse City, MI 49684.
