TRAVERSE CITY — Norman Fordyce Graves, age 71, of Traverse City, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 27, 2013,surrounded by his family. Norm was born on April 1, 1941, to Leo and Rachel (Springer) Graves in Frankfort.
On Nov. 1, 1960, he married Ruth Ann Fairbairn, with whom he shared 52 years.
Norm served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1964.
He retired from the City of Traverse City Streets Department.
Norm enjoyed camping, boating, traveling, playing cards, Tiger baseball, riding motorcycles with his family and going to the casino. He will be sincerely missed by his family and friends.
Norm is survived by his children, Dawn (Al) LaBonte, of Midland, Yvonne (Jim) Harris, of Traverse City, Roger (Sherry) Graves, of Traverse City, Norma (Jeff) Erickson, of Traverse City, Melissa (Ron) Teatro, of Davison, Mark (Amy) Graves, of Buckley, and Tammie (Jim) Hawkins, of Phoenix, Ariz.; 23 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters; three brothers; and many other loving family members and friends.
Norm was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann Graves, on Jan. 6, 2013; his parents; brother, Bill Graves; and sister, Lena Morris.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, March 16, at 4 p.m., at Norton Sportsmens Club.
