KALKASKA — Anna Kathryn Strang, 82, of Kalkaska, passed away at Munson Medical Center on Sunday, July 7, 2013.
Born on Nov. 1, 1930, to Otis and Nora (Miller) Bontrager, Anna was raised in the Cummins/Fairview area. Once grown she met and married her husband of 56 years, Lloyd Strang.
One of Anna’s greatest passions was her work as a teacher, from elementary to high school, to being a principal, she loved all of her students.
Anna was very involved in her community through hospice, Festival of Trees, as a dedicated member of the Church of Christ and volunteering anywhere needed. She was always willing to lend a hand.
In Anna’s downtime she enjoyed camping, games and spending time with friends and family. She will be dearly missed.
Anna is survived by her husband, Lloyd; daughters, Kathryn Strang and Susan (Craig) Price; granddaughter and best friend, Lauren Price; siblings, Willard (Millie) Bontrager, Warren (Ruby) Bontrager and Miriam (Mahlon) Gascho; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Nora Bontrager; and brother, Delbert (Grace) Bontrager.
Visitation will be held today, July 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m., at Kalkaska Funeral Home, 152 S. Cedar St. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 11, beginning at 11 a.m., with final visitation at 10 a.m., at the Kalkaska Church of Christ, 1725 W. Kalkaska Road NW.
