TRAVERSE CITY — Irene Lewis, 81, passed away peacefully at Grand Traverse Pavilions on July 2, 2013. She was born to Arthur and Bernadette (Camden) Perreault on March 21, 1932 in Pontiac, Mich.
Irene graduated in 1950 from Rochester High School. She worked at Detroit Edison for 12 years, and was a stay at home mom until the kids went to school. She also worked at Annies and Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, retiring in 1995. Irene then volunteered at Munson Medical Center.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Mary and Lorraine. She is survived by her children, Kathy (Tom) Fordyce, Kim (Don) Peck, and Chris (Linda) Lewis; brothers Richard (Drene) Perreault and Roger (Jan) Perreault; her grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Irene enjoyed walking, sewing, volunteering, helping others, and teasing others with that twinkle in her eye. She loved laughing and smiling. You could always count on her. We love you mom! Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., on Monday, July 8, 2013, at Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday July 9, 2013 with visitation one hour prior, at the Kewadin United Methodist Church. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Kewadin United Methodist Church, Hospice of Michigan or the Alzheimer’s Association.
