Nola "Jean" Noffsinger

BEULAH — Nola "Jean" Noffsinger of Beulah went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at the age of 97. She was surrounded by her family, including those who took loving care of her at Bortz Health Care in Traverse City.

She was born March 28, 1915, in Covington, Ohio, to Emory and Glenna Rhoades. She was married in Ohio in 1939 to Judson Noffsinger and they moved to Frankfort. Together they raised four children and were known for their strong faith, their love of people and love of their country. Jean was also known for her beautiful floral arrangements and enjoyment of music, including being the organist at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Beulah. For several years, Jud and Jean supplied area markets, neighbors and resorters with superb fruits and vegetables. After Jud's retirement from the Ann Arbor Railroads, they spent 20 winters in Palacios, Texas, making good friendships there.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Judson in 1997; their oldest son, Ronald in 2010; parents; four siblings; and a great-granddaughter, who died in infancy.

Jean is survived by her children, Marcia (Roger) Beilfuss of Chase, Gary Noffisinger of Benzonia and Susan (Paul) Wilhite of Copemish. Jean adored and will also be missed by six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one infant great-great-grandson. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Helen Noffsinger of Beulah; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Jowett Family Funeral Home, 7223 South St., Benzonia, with a horse-drawn procession for burial in Benzonia Twp. Cemetery. The family invites everyone to the visitation one hour prior to the service and anyone is welcome afterwards for fellowship and refreshments at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be given to First Baptist Church in Evart, Mich., or Our Savior Lutheran Church in Benzonia.

Arrangements are by Jowett Family Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Benzonia & Frankfort.
