FT. WALTON BEACH, Fla. — Fay Maurice Beckwith Dunmyer, 82, of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014, at Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center. Fay was born on Aug. 23, 1931, in Grand Traverse County.
She attended Central High School in Traverse City, was an enthusiastic member of the dance team and continued her love of dance her entire life.
Fay began her “great adventure” in 1953 as a U.S. Air Force wife.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harry; brother, Ronald Beckwith; her mother and stepfather, Margaret and Grant Spaulding; and her husband of 43 years, Ret. Lt. Col. James W. Dunmyer.
A resident of Ft. Walton Beach since 1967, she was a Stage Crafters supporter since 1980, a devoted volunteer for Covenant Hospice and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Fay was a cherished mother and grandmother and leaves her children, Margo Higdon (Ronald), of Niceville, Fla., James Dumyer, of Laguna-Niguel, Calif., Deanna Springer (Stephen), of Boston, Mass., and Jack Dunmyer (Blanca C.), of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; and grandsons, William Higdon (Katie), Grant Higdon, of Niceville, and Harper Springer, of Boston, Mass.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, April 26, 2014, from noon to 2 p.m., at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road NE, with a service to follow at 2 p.m. Burial will take place on Monday, April 28, 2014, at 10:15 a.m., at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla., where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.
