FIFE LAKE — Dan M. Ellis, 63, packed up his tackle box and left for a fishing trip in the sky on Saturday, April 19, 2014. He will proudly be providing heaven with the greatest fireworks shows it has ever seen, only to take a break for boating or fishing ... or napping.
During his days he enjoyed racing and working on cars, as he owned Fife Lake Auto for over 20 years, shooting fireworks, providing for over 30 years the “Best Fourth in the North,” fishing and baking.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy; his son, Jason; daughter, Tiffany (Kevin Annis); and grandson, Xavian. He is also survived by his sister, Toni (Jack Jensen); brother, Bill (Sue); and brother, David (Florence). Xavian became “Papa’s” favorite fishing buddy, receiving his first fishing pole from Papa on the day he was born.
He was preceded in death by his father, William; mother, Inez; and brother, John.
Dan will be greatly missed by the entire community of Fife Lake, especially by his family and friends. May peace be with all who loved him.
A memorial service will take place in his honor on Saturday, April 26, at 1 p.m., at the Fife Lake Beach, followed by a gathering at the American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial account has been set up at Forest Area Federal Credit Union to be given to local charities.
Arrangements were entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
