CEDAR — John Stachnik, 52, of Cedar, passed away on April 19, 2014. He was born on Dec. 27, 1961, to Clarence and Irene (Winowiecki) Stachnik in Traverse City.
John attended Glen Lake Community Schools.
He worked as a well driller for BNZ for over 30 years. John was the jack of all trades; from any motor vehicle to appliances and electric, he could fix anything in need of updating.
In his spare time John kept busy by restoring and rebuilding houses and hot rods. One of his loves was his Dodge 4x4 truck.
John was always on the go, visiting friends and family. People knew they could always depend on John to help them when they were in need, as John had a heart of gold. He was the best father, son, brother and uncle anyone could ever ask for.
John is survived by his parents, Clarence and Irene; daughter, Monica Watkins; grandsons, Anthony, Noah and Jaden; siblings, Michael (Patricia Kalchik) Stachnik, David (Marg) Stachnik, Mark Stachnik, Clarence (Lucina) Stachnik, Susan (Seaberg) Stachnik and Brenda (Joe) Rioux; many nieces and nephews; the love of his life, Sherri; and “Daddy John’s” son, Donovan.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Cedar, from 6 to 8 p.m., with a rosary recitation at 7 p.m. A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at 11 a.m., at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior.
