James Lee Wiser

NORTHPORT — James Lee Wiser, of Northport, died Saturday, March 16, 2013 in Akron, Ohio.

James was born on Jan. 13, 1927 in Lansing. He retired to Northport with over 35 years of service with the State of Michigan Department of Transportation. He was a naval veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving on the USS Henrico, USS Golden City and the USS Walton.

He enjoyed family, friends, bowling, golf, traveling, wildlife, woodworking, reading and mechanical repair.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ferona and four children, Cynthia Hogle, Jennifer Harrison, Linda Fredricks and Dennis Wiser. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two stepchildren, Stephen Hodgman and Vickie Ayers; and four step granddaughters. He is also survived by sisters Joyce French and Eloise Miller and brothers Clifford Wiser and Richard Wiser. He was predeceased by his parents Clifford and Tressel Wiser and sisters Evelyn Simonovic and Mildred Roach.

His burial service was March 25, 2013 in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Mich. in accordance with his wishes.
