NAPLES, FLA. — Candace Mary (Chance) Weber, Candy, as her family and friends knew her, passed peacefully on July 7, 2013, at age 59 in Naples, Fla., after a short battle with lung cancer.
Candy was born in Lansing, Mich. on Nov. 8, 1953, to Willis and Winifred Chance. She grew up in both the Traverse City and Lansing area. Candy loved the outdoors, was energetic and fun loving. She found a fulfilling career working as a chef as she loved to serve people.
Candy was reunited with her two beautiful daughters, Christina and Sylvia Cortez, and her father, Willis Chance, whom preceded her in death. Surviving is daughter Jennifer (Nathan) Patmos; five grandchildren, Cody, Keagan, Camden, Christina and Clayton; mother, Winifred Chance of Grand Rapids; Dean Paradise, her significant other of Marco Island, Fla.; brothers and sisters Mike (Shirley) Chance, Connie (Tom) Kukowski, Joe (Jan) Chance, Bill (Vonda) Chance and Kathy (Tom) Thomas, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by birth daughter, Sarah and granddaughters, Samantha and Cassidy.
A time for memorial and celebration of Candy’s life will be held in both Mich. and Marco Island, Fla. Burial will be held in Lansing, where Candy will be placed to rest with her two daughters.
