TRAVERSE CITY — Delores “Lori” June Franke, 78, of Traverse City, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Munson Hospice House with her family at her side. Lori was born on April 18, 1935, in St. Louis, Mich., to the late Clarence Ray and Retha (Leonard) Wright and moved to Traverse City in her childhood years.
She attended Central High School in Traverse City, graduating in 1953.
Lori fought a courageous battle with ovarian cancer for the past three years, always keeping a smile.
She loved the outdoors and being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also known for her homemade cinnamon rolls. She was truly a giving person and always put others first.
Lori was married to Jack Franke from 1953 to 1969 and had four children.
She is survived by her children, Steven (Sheila) Franke, Susan (Bob) Hogarth, Cindy (Eric) Sudekum and Deborah (Greg) Bush; her grandchildren, Christopher (Shannon) Trailer, Cara (Kevin) York, Leslie (Dustin) Ansorge, Lisa Bush, Rebecca Franke and Joel Franke. Her great-grandchildren are Stella and Scarlett June York, Alyssa Ansorge and Lillian Trailer. Lori is survived by her loving sister, Louise Whitson, of Fremont, Calif.; her dear sister-in-law, Lucille Wright, of Lake Ann; and several nieces and nephews.
Lori was preceded in death by her companion of 43 years, W.E. Ragan, of Traverse City; and her brother, Donald Ray Wright, of Lake Ann.
Lori will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date.
