TRAVERSE CITY — Kenneth “Ken” F. Cooledge, 74, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. Ken was born on Sept. 9, 1939, to the late Frederick and Lillian (Garey) Cooledge and was raised on Old Mission Peninsula.
He went to Mapleton Grade School and graduated from Central High School in 1957.
He married his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Lou (Bixby) Cooledge on Aug. 22, 1964.
Ken had been employed by the Traverse City U.S. Post Office for 36 years and he also drove BATA bus in Leelanau County for over nine years.
Ken was a faithful member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
Ken is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; two sons, Kevin Cooledge and Loren Cooledge; two grandchildren, Nicholas Cooledge and Emily Cooledge; and a brother, Fred (Val) Cooledge, of Texas. Also surviving are several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at St. Francis Catholic Church at 11 a.m., with a visitation held one hour prior. Inurnment will take place privately at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
