KEY LARGO, Fla. — Mr. Gerald (Jerry) Boone of Largo, Fla., formerly of Kingsley, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014.
Mr. Boone was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Helen Boone and brother, Orville Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife Joan of 52 years; two children, Jeff (Nancy) Boone and Joni Lynn Boone; his grandchildren, Amanda Cox, Erica (Dan) Noyola, and Brian Baum; and four great-grandchildren, Austin, Brianna, Melissa, and Daniel Jr. He is also survived by his two brothers, Terry (Jan) Boone and Larry (Julie) Boone; nieces Brigette, Lindsay and Jamie; nephews Josh, Derek and Brian.
Jerry served his country for 20 years with the U.S. Navy, which took him to Turkey, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Japan, Virginia, and Washington D.C. Following his military career, Jerry worked with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1998. In retirement, he served as a volunteer for the Pinellas Park Police Department.
Over the years of his retirement, his passion and enjoyment was riding his Goldwing across the U.S. The rides took him through all 48 continental U.S. states and Canada. Many trips were with friend and neighbor Fred, his son Jeff and his cousin Bob. In 2008 and 2012, he greatly enjoyed two long rides, with Terry and Larry.
